Instructions

Fundamentals exams may be found at the Fundamentals Exam site.

All Candidates

After logging into the exam, verifying your name and clicking the "...begin exam" button, you will be taken to the first question. Questions will appear one per page.

The navigation bar shows all questions in the exam in red if there is no answer, in green if there is an answer. You may click on these to take you to any question on the exam. For CAIBs 1-3, these will be divided into 3 sections:

Definition Questions
A technical term or phrase will be provided. Marks will be awarded based on your ability to define it. These require a brief answer — a sentence or two long.
Multiple Choice Questions
A short question with a list of multiple options for the correct answer. Select the best answer from the list.
Short Answer
Consist of either a single clause or multipart question. Students are asked to write a short answer of between 1 and 3 sentences. Marks are awarded for correctness and completeness of your answer, not the length of the answer.

CAIB 4 only has one Short Answer Section.

Submission of a single question

Questions are submitted to the database when you:
  • Click the '<< Previous' or 'Next >>' buttons at the bottom of the question. These will also take you to the corresponding question.
  • Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the question. You may wish to save if you are spending some time on a particular answer. Should you accidentally close the window or other issues such as power failure close the exam, unsaved partial answers may be lost.
  • Click the "Review' button at the bottom of the last question. This will take you to the review page where you can check your answers and submit the exam.
  • Navigate to another question by clicking the question number on the left side navigation bar
  • Click the Review and Submit link on the left side navigation bar. This will also take you to the review page.

Final Submission and Review of the Exam

After logging into the exam, you will be taken to the first section of three:

Definition Questions
A technical term or phrase will be provided. Marks will be awarded based on your ability to define it. These require a brief answer — a sentence or two long.
Multiple Choice Questions
A short question with a list of multiple options for the correct answer. Select the best answer from the list.
Short Answer
Consist of either a single clause or multipart question. Students are asked to write a short answer of between 1 and 3 sentences. Marks are awarded for correctness and completeness of your answer, not the length of the answer.

Text Based Question Entry

For short answer and essay questions, the exam offers formatting control options attached to each text entry area if the student wishes to make an answer’s format neater. Their use is not required and will not impact the exam grade. As stated, above use of text formatting is not required, and IBAM strongly advises against spending any significant time formatting exam answers. Content, clarity and ensuring that the marker will understand your comprehension should be students’ highest priority. In addition, the text area will grow as you type in order to accommodate any length of answer, so student do not need to limit the length of answers.

Error Recovery

In the event circumstances beyond reasonable control such as:

Prevent the exam from proceeding as planned; the proctor must notify the Licensing Course Coordinator at the IBAM office immediately. Time allocations will be altered base on the sole discretion and assessment of IBAM.

In the event the exam has been lost or closed out of in error, simply return to the login page, and login again as if you were starting fresh. You will be presented with the same exam question set and any questions which were answered that were submitted prior to the interruption will be available for revision. In the worst case scenario, you will only lose the single question you were working on when the outage occured. You can verify the current state of the exam by looking at the Question Navigator grid on the left menu.
